splf assmentThe Ethiopian Public Health Institute (EPHI) along with the World Health Organization (WHO) and other stakeholder ministries and authorities compiled the 2019 International Health Regulation (IHR) report.
The report was compiled on the IHR National Self-Assessment and Evaluation Workshop held in Bishoftu from November 21 – 23, 2019. The report was compiled using the State Party Self-Assessment Annual Reporting Tool (SPAR).
“It is a signed agreement and we have to assess ourselves and find out the gaps. States Parties should have an adequate legal framework in all relevant sectors to support and facilitate the effective and efficient implementation of all of their obligations and rights under the IHR. Even where new or revised legislation may not be required under a State Party’s legal system, States Parties may still choose to revise some legislation, regulations or other instruments to facilitate their implementation and maintenance in more efficient, effective or beneficial manner,” said Dr. Feyissa Regassa from EPHI’s Public Health Emergency Management.
States Parties are the 194 WHO member states currently identified by IHR and any States which may hereafter accede to the IHR in accordance with the terms of the regulations and the WHO constitution.self assment2
